Manager and Coaches

Manager- Mike Marshall

Along with his role as the General Manager for the Outlaws, Mike Marshall will serve as the team's on field Manager for the 2011 season. Mike has played professionally for 15 seasons, most notably with the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his time with the Dodgers, Mike racked up a plethora of baseball hardware. Starting with his minor league career, Mike earned the league MVP trophy in 1979 in the California League and again while playing in the Pacific Coast League in 1981. The season of 1981 was a special season for Mike; he became just one of a handful of players to hit for the triple crown in his respective league. His staggering numbers, .373 batting average, 34 homeruns, and 137 RBI would earn him a call up to the show where he debuted for the Dodgers on Sept. 7, 1981. The season culminated with a World Series trophy for Mike, as his Dodgers beat the Reggie Jackson led Yankees 4-2. Mike would reach the pinnacle of baseball achievement once more in 1988, winning the Fall Classic 4-1 over the Oakland A's.

In his second year with the Outlaws, Mike looks to build on a successful first season. Last year, the Chico Outlaws were crowned the GBL champions. However, as winter fades into spring and the leaves begin to change, the landscape of the league changes with it. The newly minted North American League presents new challenges to the Outlaws; five new teams hungry for a taste of success along with a host of new players will certainly pose a challenge for the Outlaws new skipper.

The Outlaws will become the third stop on Mike’s coaching legacy. In 2005, Mike made the transition from All-Star Outfielder to On Field Manager with the El Paso Diablos of the Central League. That year, Mike led the Diablos to within 2.5 games of a playoff berth in just their first year as a professional Independent baseball team. After a break from coaching in 2006, he joined the Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League a year later. The Scorpions would end the season two wins behind the eventual League Champion Chico Outlaws, with a team best record of 42-34. In 2008, Mike recorded his second winning season as manager of the Scorpions. In a stacked GBL South division, in which the worst team finished just two games under .500, Mike’s season would fall victim to a heartbreaking conclusion. With the season drawing to a close the Scorpions found themselves just a half game shy of reaching the playoffs. In 2009, Mike traded his seat at the end of the bench for a comfy office chair as he joined the front office of the Scorpions. The next year, Mike became the envy of every fantasy baseball player, as the Outlaws named him General Manager; handing him the keys to the car on the road to an eventual GBL championship. That car proved to be a racecar as the Outlaws got off to a hot start in 2010. In their first 20 games, the Outlaws would find their name in the win column 16 times. The blazing start continued deep into the season as the Outlaws broke out the brooms twice in the postseason, sweeping both the Calgary Vipers and the GBL South Champion Maui Na Koa Ikaika on their way to holding up the GBL’s final Championship trophy.

Hitting Coach- Brian McFall

Brian comes to the Outlaws after eight seasons of minor league ball, seven in the Kansas City Royals minor league affililiates and one year of independent ball. The 26 year old righty out of Arizona, will pull double duty for the Outlaws, as he will also play first base. Selected in the third round of the 2003 amateur entry draft, McFall would have a breakout season in 2004. Playing rookie ball for Idaho Falls, he hit .359 with 14 homers and displyed his wheels by stealing 23 bases. The Pioneer League all-star would soon reach his highest level in the MLB's minor league system, AA, in 2008. After two seasons at the AA level, McFall bounced around the Indy leagues last year, playing for three teams in two different leagues. In his second season in Independent ball, McFall looks to help build on the Outlaws previous success in rout to a triumphant 2011 campaign.

Pitching Coach- James Frisbie

Frisbie spent the last three seasons as the pitching coach for the Fort Worth Cats in the American Association League.  In 2008, Frisbie's staff lead the league in pitching with a 3.49 ERA and finished second in ERA in 2009.
He was the manager of the Bradenton Juice in the South Coast League in 2007.  In 2006, he was the pitching coach for the Coastal Bend Aviators in the American Association; in 2005 with Chillocothe in the Frontier League, and in 2004 with the Jackson Senators of the Central League.
He managed the Rio Grande Valley White Wings in 2003 their last season in the Central League.  He pitched for the Alexandria Aces in the Central League from 1998 - 2001.  He played college baseball at Abilene Christian University for former Major Leaguer Bill Gilbreth.  James spends much of his off season in Weed, California.
